Dentistry, also called oral medicine and dental medicine, is a division of medicine which includes the study, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and care of dental diseases, disorders, and problems. Dentists are trained to provide services in the field of diagnosing and treating dental diseases, disorders, and problems. The scope of work of dentists is quite broad and they can specialize in almost any dental field. For example, they may specialize in pediatric dentistry or orthodontics. Pediatric dentistry is concerned with the treatment and prevention of dental disorders common to children and they also deal with the training of dental children and their parents. Orthodontics deals with disorders of the jaw and head, which can cause difficulty in chewing and speaking. It mainly deals with the teaching of braces to keep the jaws in proper alignment.
